Perforce P4Perl is the Perl language binding for the Perforce Helix Core client API. It lets you connect to a Helix Core server from Perl and perform source control operations programmatically—without shelling out to the p4 command-line tool. You can create and submit changelists, sync workspaces, shelve files, manage labels and jobs, work with streams and specs, and integrate branches while receiving structured results rather than raw text.
The API includes connection management, authentication with passwords or tickets, SSL trust handling, Unicode support, and robust error and message reporting. It’s well suited for automation tasks such as CI/CD pipelines, build and release orchestration, reporting, migrations, and server-side triggers. P4Perl runs on major platforms and requires a compatible Helix Core server and supported Perl toolchain; binaries or source builds are typically aligned with specific P4API versions.
Perforce P4Perl API for Perl is developed by Perforce Software. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 5.8, 14.7, 15.2, 16.5 and 2007.3. The names of program executable files are p4admin.exe, p4merge.exe and p4v.exe.
